According to the European Regulation 261/2004, airlines are obliged to provide compensation (up to 600 euros per person, depending on the flight distance) if passengers arrive at their destination with a delay of more than 3 hours (exceptions are made for delays caused by extraordinary conditions such as extreme weather, strikes, etc).
